The Short Version

Austin Rampt spent over a decade fighting an addiction he couldn't name, couldn't control, and couldn't shake: no matter how many times he tried. Eight rehab programs. Multiple stints in jail. Time living with the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico. At the lowest point, he was barely surviving, not living.

Today he's the opposite of that person. He runs a business, raises a family, and talks openly about the years most people would rather forget. One Last Hit is his way of saying: if I made it through that, you can make it through this.

"I wrote this book because I needed someone to tell me it was possible. Nobody did. So I'm telling you."

The Real Story

Austin grew up in South Florida. On the surface, his early years looked pretty normal: but underneath, there was always something restless, something that didn't fit. Substances became the answer to a question he hadn't fully formed yet.

What followed was a decade-long spiral that took him through crack cocaine, heroin, and every treatment program South Florida had to offer. He wasn't resistant to help: he was desperate for it. The problem was that nothing stuck, not because recovery was impossible, but because he hadn't yet found the version of it that worked for him.

At one point, he found himself living in Mexico with members of the Sinaloa Cartel: not as a trafficker, but as someone so deep in the life that it had become his only world. He doesn't glamorize it. He doesn't use it for shock value. It's just what happened.

Recovery, when it finally came, wasn't a single moment. It was a slow, grinding process of choosing differently: one day at a time, one decision at a time: until the new choices started to feel as natural as the old ones once did.
